Toyota Warranty

  • Every new Toyota purchased is covered for the first 3 years or 100,000km travelled, whichever comes earlier. Plus, our wide network of authorised service centres throughout Malaysia is ever-ready to provide professional care for your Toyota whenever necessary.

    If you’re a Toyota owner, here is some important information you should know:

      • It’s important to know that when you buy a new Toyota, your vehicle's warranty includes the following:

        Covers for a period of 36 months from date of first registration or 100,000 km travelled, whichever occurs first.

        Any part of the Toyota vehicle covered by warranty that is defective in material or workmanship under normal use, will either be repaired or replaced, free of charge.

        Fully Transferable
        The Basic Warranty Coverage is fully transferable to subsequent Toyota vehicle owners.

      • Several parts of your Toyota vehicle are warranted separately, as specified below:

        1.  Battery
          Covers 12 months from date of first registration or 20,000km travelled, whichever occurs first.

        2.  Demister and Antenna Lines
          Defect in material or workmanship cover a period of 12 months from date of registration or 20,000 km travelled, whichever occurs first.

        3.  Optional Accessories
          Some optional accessories may have separate or additional warranty terms and conditions provided by the manufacturers or suppliers.

        4.  Tyres
          Tyres are warranted under a separate warranty provided by the tyre manufacturer.

      • Toyota Genuine Parts purchased by customers after the Basic Warranty Coverage from UMW Toyota Motor or its appointed dealers are warranted from defect on material and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase or 20,000 km travelled, whichever occurs first (the Warranty Period), and the replacement Toyota Genuine Parts during the Warranty Period is warrantable until the expiry of the Warranty Period.

      • UMW Toyota Motor warrants that it will repair or service, free of charge, any defects of poor workmanship under normal use, for labour or workmanship done by UMW Toyota Motor service centres or its appointed dealers within 3 months from date of invoice or 5,000 km travelled, whichever occurs first.

      • This warranty is valid only within Malaysia. If you are touring or relocating to another country and a problem arises, please consult a local Toyota dealer. However, please note that the local Toyota dealer may not be able to provide certain warranty services, because your Toyota vehicle may not comply with the regulator and/or environmental requirements of a particular country.

      • It’s also important to note that the following items or situations are not covered under the basic warranty:

        1.  Replacement of normal maintenance parts
          The replacement of normal maintenance parts such as spark plugs, distributors points, drive belts (including air-cond belts), wiper blades, brake lining and pads, lamp bulbs, fuses, filters, refrigerant, receiver drier, lubricants and fluids.

        2.  Cost of maintenance service
          The labour, parts and/or lubricant costs of maintenance services such as engine tune-up, cooling system and fuel system cleaning, carbon and sludge removal, inspection and adjustment of brake, clutch, drive belt and linkage of various parts, wheel alignment, wheel balancing, tyre rotation and other similar maintenance service ordinarily needed with vehicle use.

        3.  Use of non-genuine Toyota parts
          The use of non-genuine Toyota parts or fluids not recommended by UMW Toyota Motor for use in Toyota vehicle.

        4.  Mishandling or modification
          Repairs and adjustments caused by misuse (i.e. racing, overloading, vehicle operation and handling against instruction in Owner’s Manual), accident, negligence, modification, alteration, tampering, disconnection, and improper adjustments or repairs.

        5.  Damages from acts of God and the like
          Damages of surface corrosion from the environment such as acid rain, airborne fall-out (chemicals, tree sap, etc), salt, hail, bird droppings, insect or animal bites, other acts of God and the like.

        6.  Altered odometer mileage
          Failure of a vehicle on which the odometer mileage has been altered or changed, resulting in a mileage reading that cannot be readily ascertained.

        7.  Others
        Any damage of glass such as breakage, scratches, edge finish chipping or optical distortion not caused by defect in material or workmanship.

        Cosmetic or surface corrosion from stone chips or scratches in the paint.

        Normal noise, vibration, wear, tear or deterioration such as discolouration, fading, deformation or blur.

        Vehicles that have not undergone any inspection at the recommended periodic maintenance service at any UMW Toyota Motor service centre or its appointed dealer.

        Incidental and consequential damages including but not limited to telephone calls, car rental charges, hotel bills, and inconvenience or commercial loss.

        Finality On Warranty Claims
        UMW Toyota reserves the right of final decision on all warranty claims.
